SLS Assessment Questionnaire Feedback - Fall 2020 | On August 1, 2020, Student Life Studies launched a new Assessment Questionnaire (AQ) form. The changes for updating the department’s intake form was based on frustrations clients expressed during the focus groups held in May 2019 on Student Life Studies’ services. The department wanted to gather feedback from clients who completed the new AQ form since it was launched to know if the changes improved clients’ experience completing this form. Off Campus Student Services Property Managers F23 | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students living off-campus in the Bryan/College Station area, including helping students understand leases and find housing. OCSS surveyed property managers in the Bryan/College Station area to learn more about their leases, their marketing timeline, and the type of housing they oversee. Off Campus Student Services Community Luncheon - Spring 2024 | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students living off-campus in the Bryan/College Station area, including helping students understand leases and find housing. Off Campus Student Services hosted a community luncheon on February 1, 2024, to educate local citizens on events, neighborhood codes, and being good neighbors. OCSS will use this information to inform future programs and student support. Parent and Family Assessment - Spring 2020 | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) provides outreach to Aggie families because they understand how families contribute to students’ college success. Out-of-State Family Focus Groups | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) is a unit within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life and work with families for all Texas A&M students. NSFP wanted to understand the needs of out-of-state Aggie families. Specifically, they wanted to learn how they could provide better programs and services to this family population and beneficial resources. In addition, New Student and Family Programs wanted to learn about these families’ experiences with New Student Conferences and Family Weekend. Student Life Studies conducted virtual focus groups with out-of-state family members to gather the desired information for New Student and Family Programs. Live@Noon: A Summer Series 2020 | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life sponsored Live@Noon: A Summer Series, a summer series of virtual book discussions with faculty and fellow students, open to all new students. This program replaced previous years’ in-person Summer Reading programs held during Howdy Week. Live@Noon: A Summer Series outcomes were to help new students acclimate themselves to the virtual college classroom experience, learn to interact with professors and meet fellow freshmen about to attend Texas A&M University. Participants were surveyed in early September to assess their experiences and gain their feedback regarding the value of the program to them. Parent and Family Assessment 2021 -New Student & Family Programs | New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) wanted to gather feedback from parents and family members of first year and third year students regarding communication with the university, as well as to understand their experiences receiving communication regarding the COVID-19 pandemic during the 2020-2021 academic year. This is the second time Student Life Studies has worked with New Student and Family Programs conducting a parent and family assessment. Leadership Education for APIDA Development (LEAD) Conference Spring 2021 | Multicultural Services and student leaders from the Asian President’s Council contacted Student Life Studies to assist in developing an assessment for the 2021 Leadership Education for Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) Development (LEAD) Conference. This year’s conference was held virtually the evening of April 9 and the morning of April 10, 2021 and the theme of LEAD was "Stronger when Together, Together while Apart." The conference was open to students, staff and faculty from Texas A&M University and from other educational institutions. 2023 DMS LEAD Evaluation | Multicultural Services and student leaders from the Asian President’s Council contacted Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research to assist in developing an assessment for the 2023 Leadership Education for Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) Development (LEAD) Conference. This year’s conference was held on April 15, 2023, and the theme of LEAD was Reflecting on our Past, Changing for our Future. The conference was open to students, staff, and faculty from Texas A&M University and from other educational institutions. Mi Casa es Su Casa 2019-2020 | Mi Casa es Su Casa are a series of dinners hosted by faculty and staff for students throughout the academic year. Sponsored by MSC CAMAC, these dinners intend participants to network with other students and faculty and staff, and gain a better understanding of opportunities that can open in the future. This year three dinners were held - two in the fall semester and one in the spring. After the November and February dinners participating students were sent surveys in effort to better understand their experience. The hosts were sent a survey after the last dinner to also gain a better understanding of their experience with the student organizers and what improvements or changes they recommend for next year's events. MSC Abbott Family Leadership Conference San Antonio and Houston Spring 2021 | Memorial Student Center (MSC) Abbott Family Leadership Conference (AFLC) sponsored two separate conferences in spring 2021, which prior to the COVID 19 pandemic traveling restrictions would have been held in San Antonio and Houston. MSC AFLC also sponsored additional pre-conference events that included all delegates. Different students attended each conference. MSC AFLC addresses four “pillars” in their pre-conference events and at both conferences: ethics, the importance of family, service, and values. Survey evaluations include an assessment of the delegates’ experiences at each conference and surrounding pre-conference events. Although both conferences were held on the Texas A&M campus, each was referenced by their traditional conference locations (San Antonio and Houston). The San Antonio conference was held on January 28-30, 2021 and the Houston conference on February 25-27, 2021. University Art Galleries Student Ambassador Survey Spring 2020 | In the spring of 2020 University Art Galleries wanted to assess their student visitors’ experience visiting the Forsyth and Stark Galleries, and their interest in participating in a student ambassador program. A short electronic survey was developed and sent via email to students who visited the galleries from September 2019 through February 2020. DSA Assessment Committee Member Survey - Spring 2023 | In the spring 2022 semester, Student Affairs Strategic Planning worked with graduate students in the EDAD 658 class to assess the members of the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) Assessment Committee to learn how the committee could be improved and to fulfill its mission. Student Affairs Strategic Planning implemented several recommendations provided by the graduate students throughout the academic year. Customer Satisfaction Survey 2020-2021 | In August 2021, Division of Student Affairs (DSA) staff members who used the DSA Department of Information Technology (DoIT) services during the 2020-2021 academic year were surveyed regarding their overall satisfaction with DoIT services. This is the sixth time Student Life Studies has helped DoIT assess customer satisfaction of clients regarding the various services offered by DoIT. 2020 Howdy Week Coordinators Assessment | Howdy Week, a series of events held just before the fall semester to welcome primarily new students to campus, is coordinated by New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. Howdy Week 2020 were a combination of virtual events, hybrid virtual and in-person events. Coordinators of the events were surveyed for their feedback regarding various components of their experience and attendance at the programs they sponsored during the week.
