Client Focus Groups | One goal for Student Life Studies is to provide quality assessment services to facilitate client planning and decision-making. To measure this goal and associated outcomes, the department conducted focus groups with clients to understand the effectiveness and quality of the services offered. Student Life Studies conducts focus groups approximately every three years to learn about clients’ experiences working with the department. Rec Sports Intramural Sports Participants - Fall 2023 | Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) offers dozens of intramural activities each semester for a wide range of skill levels. Each year, more than 13,000 students participate in the intramural program. Staff members with Intramural Sports wanted to assess students who participated in the intramural program during the fall 2023 semester to understand their experiences and how to improve the program for the future. De-Stress Fest 2024 | Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) partnered with various offices across campus to host De-Stress Fest. This program was held on March 6, 2024, and the program was designed to teach participants the importance of self-care, participate in activities to lower stress, and learn about campus resources. Rec Sports had the following two outcomes for De-Stress Fest: 1. Participants will identify at least two resources that could help increase their wellness. Participants were assessed at the event after engaging in the activities to gauge what students learned about self-care and if the two outcomes were accomplished. Sex in the Dark Workshop 2019-2020 (Health Promotions ODSL) | Sex in the Dark is a workshop conducted by Health Promotion (HP) to increase the knowledge of students in regards to their sexual health. Rec Sports Facilities Customer Service | Staff from the Department of Recreational Sports contacted Student Life Studies to assist with an assessment to gather information from students relating to their satisfaction with the Rec Center facility spaces and interactions with their staff. More specifically, the Rec Center staff wanted to measure the satisfaction or dissatisfaction level with facility spaces and to learn where improvements to facilities, operations, and programs could be made to make students' experiences at the Rec Center more enjoyable. This is the fourth time the department has worked with Student Life Studies to concentrate on assessing the facilities within the Rec Center. Student Leader Inclusive Learning Outcomes 2022-2023 | Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) and staff from the Department of Student Activities met with student leaders from multiple sponsored and affiliated Texas A&M University student organizations to develop student leader learning outcomes relevant to their organizational leadership experiences. These outcomes associated with the Texas A&M University (TAMU) undergraduate learning outcomes of life-long learning and demonstrate social, cultural and global competence. An assessment was created to gain insight from student organization leaders about experiences within their student organizations related to their progress in achieving both learning outcomes during the year. Student Leader Inclusive Learning Outcomes 2021-2022 | Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) and staff from the Department of Student Activities met with student leaders from multiple sponsored and affiliated Texas A&M University student organizations to gain input in developing student leader learning outcomes. These outcomes associated with the Texas A&M University undergraduate learning outcomes practice personal and social responsibility and demonstrate social, cultural and global competence. Then related learning outcomes were conceived and written in conjunction with student leaders to more closely relate to their experiences as a student leader within their organizations. SAPAR - Division Staff Assessment Needs and Training | Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) conducts a survey every three years to understand division staff members’ experiences and needs related to assessment. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research staff use this information to develop resources and training programs for the Division of Student Affairs and adjust their assessment services to meet staff members’ needs.
