MSC FLI Coast Rica Service Trip - 2022 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Freshmen Leadership International (FLI) coordinates an international service-learning program in Costa Rica for its members and any freshman in a Freshman Leadership Organization (FLO) each year over spring break. This year, the service-learning experience was from March 12-18, 2022. MSC FLI indicated the purpose of the trip for participants is to learn about another culture, enhance their Spanish language skills, experience the rainforest, and engage with local community members. Trip participants were assessed at three different points during the experience to gauge how well the outcomes were met and the overall impact of this experience. MSC FLI Costa Rica Service Trip - Spring 2020 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Freshmen Leadership International (FLI) coordinates one major international travel experience for its members each year over spring break. MSC FLI went to Costa Rica again this year from March 7-13, 2020 for this international travel experience. MSC FLI indicated the following outcomes for participants: • Participants demonstrate a willingness to step out of their comfort zone to try something new. Trip participants were assessed at different points during the experience to gauge how well the outcomes were met and the overall impact of this experience. MSC Open House Student Organizations Experience Fall 2020 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) sponsors MSC Open House each semester to provide Texas A&M students the opportunity to interact with hundreds of student organizations recruiting for members. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic gathering restrictions, the fall 2020 MSC Open House was held virtually via Instagram. MSC Open House staff assessed the student organization coordinators to ascertain the quality of their experience registering and preparing for fall’s MSC Open House and their experience during the event. MSC Program Assembly and Program Approval Process - Spring 2024 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Student Programs Office has three Program Assemblies, which are groups of student leaders and advisors who meet weekly to approve programs and speakers for upcoming events put on by one of the 18 MSC committees. Each Program Assembly is led by a student leader who serves as the Vice President of Programs. Additionally, each Program Assembly consists of student leaders who serve as committee chairs and full-time staff members who serve as advisors to the 18 committees. The MSC wanted to review its program planning process and Program Assemblies (PAs) to find out how it could be streamlined and work more effectively for these four primary stakeholders. To gather data from all stakeholders, three different surveys were developed, and one focus group was conducted. MSC SCONA 69 - Spring 2024 | Each spring the Memorial Student Center (MSC) Student Conference on National Affairs (SCONA) hosts a conference to provide “programs for students across Texas, the nation, and the world to exchange ideas and discuss the role of the United States in the global community.” The theme for SCONA 69 was “American Grand Strategy: Winning the Decisive Decade,” and was held on February 15-17, 2024. SCONA 69 utilized speakers and team facilitators with first-hand experiences in the topics to guide delegates in the creation of a policy paper. MSC Spencer Leadership Conference Evaluation Spring 2020 | The MSC Spencer Leadership Conference focuses on leadership development through the exploration of three pillars: Self-Aware Leadership, Innovative Leadership, and Selfless Leadership. Approximately 44 student delegates attend pre-conference programs during the fall semester, and attend the conference held in Dallas in January. The conference includes programs and small group discussions featuring leaders in business, industry, education and public service. Delegates were surveyed to assess their experiences and learning during the conference as well as during pre-conference events. MSC Student Programs Diversity Climate Survey | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Student Programs Office provides leadership development opportunities for students through its 18 programming committees and resource areas. MSC Diversity leadership wanted to assess how MSC committee members and executive teams perceived the diversity initiatives instituted toward creating an inclusive student union. The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Breakfast 2024 | The following summary report highlights the results of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Breakfast 2024. The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Carter G. Woodson Black Awareness Committee (WBAC) annually sponsors The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Breakfast. 2023 DMS LEAD Evaluation | Multicultural Services and student leaders from the Asian President’s Council contacted Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research to assist in developing an assessment for the 2023 Leadership Education for Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) Development (LEAD) Conference. This year’s conference was held on April 15, 2023, and the theme of LEAD was Reflecting on our Past, Changing for our Future. The conference was open to students, staff, and faculty from Texas A&M University and from other educational institutions. Leadership Education for APIDA Development (LEAD) Conference Spring 2021 | Multicultural Services and student leaders from the Asian President’s Council contacted Student Life Studies to assist in developing an assessment for the 2021 Leadership Education for Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) Development (LEAD) Conference. This year’s conference was held virtually the evening of April 9 and the morning of April 10, 2021 and the theme of LEAD was "Stronger when Together, Together while Apart." The conference was open to students, staff and faculty from Texas A&M University and from other educational institutions. SBSLC 2020: Igniting the Dream: I the Flame, We the Fire | On January 16 -18, 2020, the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) held its 32nd annual conference at Texas A&M University. A series of surveys were developed to assess the student participants’ experience attending the conference overall, the organizations at the Career and Graduate School fair, 16 participants’ experience at the Charles E. Williams II Advanced Leadership Institute (ALI), and the 72 attending advisors. 2020 Howdy Week Coordinators Assessment | Howdy Week, a series of events held just before the fall semester to welcome primarily new students to campus, is coordinated by New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. Howdy Week 2020 were a combination of virtual events, hybrid virtual and in-person events. Coordinators of the events were surveyed for their feedback regarding various components of their experience and attendance at the programs they sponsored during the week.
