Venture Camp 2022 | Venture Camps are extended orientation programs for admitted entering freshmen or transfer students starting in the fall semester. During the camp experience, students participate in a variety of outdoor activities and take part in Discussion Groups (DGs) to discuss college life at Texas A&M and campus traditions. This year, two different camp experiences were offered to incoming students. Venture: Base Camp Backpacking was July 28 – August 5, 2022, and Venture: Base Camp Paddling was July 18 – 23, 2022. Staff planning the Venture Camp programs wanted to understand the students’ experiences and how effective they were in reaching the identified outcomes. Venture Camps Participant Evaluation - 2021 | Venture Camps are extended orientation programs for admitted entering freshmen or transfer students starting in the fall semester. T-Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC), is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who are transferring to Texas A&M University. There were two sessions held, from August 2 through August 8. Following the camps, one survey was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and a few weeks into the semester another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experience. ATC T Camp 2020 | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experience of students who participated in T Camp. T Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC), is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who previously attended another institution and are transferring to Texas A&M University. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, this fall two sessions of T Camp were held virtually; session one was held August 3 through August 5, and session two was held August 7 through August 9. One survey was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers a few weeks into the semester, and T Camp participants (campers) were sent a different survey to measure their camp experience. Traditions Night | The Department of Student Activities, Extended Orientation, in collaboration with Texas A&M Athletics, hosted Traditions Night on August 25, 2021 for incoming Texas A&M student-athletes. Student Life Studies collaborated with the Department of Student Activities to assess the participating students’ experiences with Traditions Night. Live@Noon: A Summer Series 2020 | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life sponsored Live@Noon: A Summer Series, a summer series of virtual book discussions with faculty and fellow students, open to all new students. This program replaced previous years’ in-person Summer Reading programs held during Howdy Week. Live@Noon: A Summer Series outcomes were to help new students acclimate themselves to the virtual college classroom experience, learn to interact with professors and meet fellow freshmen about to attend Texas A&M University. Participants were surveyed in early September to assess their experiences and gain their feedback regarding the value of the program to them. 2020 Howdy Week Coordinators Assessment | Howdy Week, a series of events held just before the fall semester to welcome primarily new students to campus, is coordinated by New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. Howdy Week 2020 were a combination of virtual events, hybrid virtual and in-person events. Coordinators of the events were surveyed for their feedback regarding various components of their experience and attendance at the programs they sponsored during the week. Howdy Week Assessment 2021 | Howdy Week is a series of events held just before the fall semester to welcome primarily new students to campus and is coordinated by New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. Howdy Week 2021 was August 22-29, 2021, and included a combination of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events. NSFP wanted to understand the event coordinators’ experience, specifically with the process to submit events for Howdy Week and how organizations find out about submitting events. Additionally, NSFP wanted to assess students’ experiences with Howdy Week. Fall 2023 Howdy Week | Howdy Week is a campus-wide collaboration to serve as Aggieland’s official welcome for all new and returning students. Howdy Week occurs the days before the start of the semester and was held on August 17-22, 2023. New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) wanted to understand students’ experiences attending the Fall 2023 Howdy Week. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research has worked with New Student and Family Programs assessing coordinators involved with Howdy Week since 2017. ATC Howdy Camp 2020 Counselor/Teamer/CoChair & Camper Surveys | Howdy Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC) is an extended optional orientation camp held immediately prior to the spring semester for students transferring to or first time attending Texas A&M University in the spring semester. This year Howdy Camp was held January 3-5, 2020. This report summarizes the results of surveys sent to co-chairs, counselors and teamers who work at the camp, as well as the participants (campers) who attend. 2023 Grad Camp Assessment | Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) sponsored one virtual session and two in-person sessions of Grad Camp held on August 15th (virtual), August 17th, and August 19th.
