Division of Student Affairs Staff Needs Assessment | The DSA Staff Wellbeing and Appreciate Committee (SWAC) wanted to understand staff members’ impressions, current behavior, and needs in the areas of appreciation and wellbeing. Additionally, the committee wanted to learn about staff members’ current work environment if that is on campus or in an alternative location due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the second time Student Life Studies has worked with the division committee to assess staff’s needs, although the focus for several areas changed. DSA Marketing & Communications Customer Satisfaction Survey 2019-2020 | Beginning in December 2019, Division of Student Affairs (DSA) staff members who used the DSA Marketing & Communication services during the 2019-2020 academic year were surveyed regarding their overall satisfaction with these services. The report summarizes those results and includes recommendations. Student Conduct Conferences - 2020-2021 | The Student Conduct Office (SCO) wanted to assess students’ experience with and the learning from their conduct conferences to continue to improve how their office works with students in the future. The Student Conduct Office previously used a national survey to assess students’ experience, but the questions did not focus on the priorities identified by the unit. University Art Galleries Student Ambassador Survey Spring 2020 | In the spring of 2020 University Art Galleries wanted to assess their student visitors’ experience visiting the Forsyth and Stark Galleries, and their interest in participating in a student ambassador program. A short electronic survey was developed and sent via email to students who visited the galleries from September 2019 through February 2020. 2022 The Big Event Community & Participant Surveys | Two surveys were created to understand how students were impacted by participating in The Big Event (TBE), and how members of the Bryan/College Station community reacted to their experience with The Big Event during Spring 2022. The feedback collected was from both the community members who registered for a job and the student participants who registered. This report covers the responses from both groups. Aggie Pregnant and Parenting Student Organization Student Needs Focus Groups | The Aggie Pregnant and Parenting student organization, in conjunction with the Texas A&M University Women’s Resource Center (WRC) contacted Student Life Studies to assist in assessing the needs of pregnant and parenting students on the Texas A&M College Station campus. Early in the spring 2020 semester, all students on the College Station campus were surveyed about their parenting status, as well as interest in participating in subsequent focus groups. The purpose of these focus groups was to inquire about the experiences and needs of Aggies who are parents, or becoming parents while attending the university. ATC Howdy Camp 2020 Counselor/Teamer/CoChair & Camper Surveys | Howdy Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC) is an extended optional orientation camp held immediately prior to the spring semester for students transferring to or first time attending Texas A&M University in the spring semester. This year Howdy Camp was held January 3-5, 2020. This report summarizes the results of surveys sent to co-chairs, counselors and teamers who work at the camp, as well as the participants (campers) who attend. ATC T Camp 2020 | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experience of students who participated in T Camp. T Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC), is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who previously attended another institution and are transferring to Texas A&M University. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, this fall two sessions of T Camp were held virtually; session one was held August 3 through August 5, and session two was held August 7 through August 9. One survey was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers a few weeks into the semester, and T Camp participants (campers) were sent a different survey to measure their camp experience. ATC T-Camp 2023 Counselor/Teamer/Cochair & Camper Surveys | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in T-Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC). T-Camp is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who are transferring to Texas A&M University. There was one session held from August 9th through August 11th. A few weeks into the semester, survey evaluations were sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experiences. Fish Camp 2019 Participant Evaluation | According to its website (http://fishcamp.tamu.edu/), Fish Camp “welcomes the freshmen class to Texas A&M each year with the purpose of giving them an opportunity to have fun, make friends, and learn more about life at Texas A&M.” Furthermore, Fish Camp “is led by A&M students who are passionate about making the first year of college a success for freshmen!” This year, seven sessions ran from July 27th through August 17th, 2019. Fish Camp wanted to understand the participants’ camp experience and how Fish Camp affected, if at all, the start of the fall semester for those who attended. Grad Camp 2020 | Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC) sponsored two virtual sessions of Grad Camp held on August 11th and 12th. GPSC has worked with Student Life Studies since 2001 to assess the experience of counselors and the campers who attend Grad Camp. Graduate & Professional Student Government Grad Camp Fall 2021 | Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) sponsored one virtual session and one in-person session of Grad Camp held on August 18th and August 25th, 2021. GPSG worked with Student Life Studies since 2001 to assess the experiences of counselors and the campers who attend Grad Camp. Graduate and Professional Student Government International Graduate Student Assessment 2022 | The Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) wanted to assess the experience of international graduate and professional students at Texas A&M to identify areas in which GPSG could help improve their student experience and quality of life at Texas A&M. More specifically, GPSG wanted to understand international graduate students’ experiences as they encounter processes unique to international students, like the I-20 processes, using the Terra Dotta system, and processes in applying and participating in Optional Practical Training (OPT). GPSG leadership contacted Student Life Studies (SLS) in the fall of 2021 to assist them in creating and distributing the survey to international graduate students attending Texas A&M University in spring 2022; this is the second time SLS has assisted GPSG with this assessment.
