International Graduate Student Assessment - Spring 2023 | The Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) wanted to assess the experiences of international graduate and professional students at Texas A&M to identify areas in which GPSG could work with International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) to improve international graduate students’ experience. More specifically, GPSG wanted to understand international graduate students’ experiences as they encounter processes unique to international students, like the I-20 processes, using the Terra Dotta system, and processes in applying and participating in Optional Practical Training (OPT). 2023 Big Event Summary Report | A survey was created to understand how members of the Bryan/College Station community reacted to their experience with The Big Event (TBE). 2023 De-Stress Fest Summary Report | Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) partnered with various offices across campus to host De-Stress Fest. This program was held on March 23, 2023, and the program was designed to teach participants the importance of self-care, participate in activities to lower stress, and learn about campus resources. Participants were assessed at the event after engaging in the activities to gauge what students learned about self-care and the resources that were present at the event. Fish Camp Participant Assessment - Summer 2022 | According to its website (http://fishcamp.tamu.edu/mission/), Fish Camp strives to “welcome freshmen into the Aggie Family by sharing the traditions and values of Texas A&M University and building long-term relationships that embody the Aggie spirit.” Fish Camp operates as a student organization and is housed in the Department of Student Activities. This year, eight sessions were held in person from July 23rd through August 9th, 2022. Fish Camp used to be a four-day camp at Lakeview Methodist Conference Center in Palestine, TX. However, starting in 2021, and continuing in 2022, Fish Camp was shortened to three days. Fish Camp leaders and advisors wanted to understand the participants’ camp experience and how Fish Camp affected, if at all, the start of the fall semester for those who attended. Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference SBSLC 2023: Next Stop: Reaching New Limits | On January 19-21, 2023, the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) held its 34th annual conference at Texas A&M University. A series of surveys were developed to assess the student and advisor participants’ experiences attending the conference overall, participants’ experience at the Charles E. T-Camp 2022 | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in T-Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC). T-Camp is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who are transferring to Texas A&M University. There was one session held from August 10th through August 12th. 2023 MLK Breakfast Summary Report | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Carter G. Woodson Black Awareness Committee (WBAC) annually sponsors The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Breakfast. Venture Camp 2022 | Venture Camps are extended orientation programs for admitted entering freshmen or transfer students starting in the fall semester. During the camp experience, students participate in a variety of outdoor activities and take part in Discussion Groups (DGs) to discuss college life at Texas A&M and campus traditions. This year, two different camp experiences were offered to incoming students. Venture: Base Camp Backpacking was July 28 – August 5, 2022, and Venture: Base Camp Paddling was July 18 – 23, 2022. Staff planning the Venture Camp programs wanted to understand the students’ experiences and how effective they were in reaching the identified outcomes. SAPAR Client Focus Groups - Summer 2022 | One goal for Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) is to provide quality assessment services to facilitate client planning and decision-making. To measure this goal and associated outcomes, the department conducted focus groups with clients to understand the effectiveness and quality of the services offered. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research conducts focus groups approximately every three years to learn about clients’ experiences working with the department. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research will use the data collected to improve services provided to the Division of Student Affairs (DSA). Hullabaloo U Lesson - My Aggie Wellness Journey 2022-2023 | Student Life Health Promotion (HP) staff offered 2022 Hullabaloo U instructors a series of 40-minute lessons to facilitate as part of the Hullabaloo U curriculum during their fall 2022 courses. The first lesson, My Aggie Wellness Journey, was intended to be delivered between August 24, 2022, and September 30, 2022. Students participating in the lesson were offered an open link or a QR code to access a survey at the end of the lesson, which assessed whether the students met the learning outcomes and whether they were receptive to and participated in lesson activities. Green Dot Bystander Intervention Overview & Training Evaluations 2021-2022 | According to its website (greendot.tamu.edu), Green Dot is an international movement built on the premise that individuals can systematically and measurably reduce the levels of power-based personal violence found in their community. Students, staff and faculty who participated in the Texas A&M Green Dot Bystander Intervention training classes and the Green Dot Overview virtual workshops were surveyed to assess the programs and how attending affected participants’ understanding of concepts related to power-based personal violence. DSA Awards Committee Awards Nomination Experience Assessment FA 2022 | The Division of Student Affairs Awards Committee wanted to understand how the DSA Awards nomination process was perceived by DSA staff in an effort to increase the number of award nominations. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) assisted the committee in developing a survey to assess the DSA staff about the nomination process; the attached report summarizes the results of that survey. Health Promotions - Sex in the Dark Workshop 2021-2022 | The Sex in the Dark workshop, conducted by Health Promotion (HP), is designed to increase students’ knowledge of their sexual health. Learning outcomes developed for Sex in the Dark workshop include: • Participants will report increased knowledge of healthy sexual behaviors. Surveys were developed to measure participants’ learning, as well as gauge participants’ overall impression of the program and perceptions of the facilitators of the program. Health Promotions STAND UP Overview and Workshop Evaluations 2021-2022 | Health Promotions within Student Life offers workshops providing educational support for the STAND Up campaign on the Texas A&M University campus inviting Aggies to Step In and Stand Up against sexual harassment and sexual violence. In 2021-2022, two separate programs were offered: The STAND Up Overview, an hour-long presentation intended to provide general information about the impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence, and the STAND Up workshop, a three and one-half hour, in-person workshop designed to provide a more thorough understanding of impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence. Surveys were distributed at the end of the Overviews and STAND Up workshops to measure participants’ learning and satisfaction.
