Diversity Climate Survey Fall 2021 | The Texas A&M Memorial Student Center (MSC) provides leadership development opportunities for students through its 18 programming committees and resource areas. MSC Diversity leadership wanted to assess how MSC committee members and executive teams perceived the diversity initiatives instituted toward creating an inclusive student union. Student Life Studies has worked with the MSC since 2011 to assess the diversity and inclusion efforts and its effects on its membership. Howdy Week Assessment 2021 | Howdy Week is a series of events held just before the fall semester to welcome primarily new students to campus and is coordinated by New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. Howdy Week 2021 was August 22-29, 2021, and included a combination of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events. NSFP wanted to understand the event coordinators’ experience, specifically with the process to submit events for Howdy Week and how organizations find out about submitting events. Additionally, NSFP wanted to assess students’ experiences with Howdy Week. Client Follow-Up Feedback | Starting in summer 2020, Student Life Studies staff members began scheduling meetings with clients several weeks after assessment projects were completed. The purpose of these follow-up meetings was to find out what information from the report stood out to clients, how clients might use or share the results, or if there was any additional analysis Student Life Studies could provide. The department wanted to gather feedback from clients to know if these short follow-up meetings were beneficial or if the department could do something to make them more helpful. T-Camp 2021 Counselor/Teamer/Co-Chair and Camper Surveys - Aggie Transition Camps (ATC) | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in T-Camp. T-Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC), is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who are transferring to Texas A&M University. There were two sessions held, from August 2 through August 8. Following the camps, one survey was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and a few weeks into the semester another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experience. STAND Up Overview and STAND Up Workshop Evaluations 2020-2021- Health Promotions | Health Promotions within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life (ODSL) offers workshops providing educational support for the STAND Up campaign on the Texas A&M University campus inviting Aggies to Step In and Stand Up against sexual harassment and sexual violence. In 2020-2021, two separate programs were offered: The STAND Up Overview, an hour-long, virtual presentation intended to provide general information about the impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence, and the STAND Up workshop, a three and one-half hour, in-person and virtual presentation designed to provide a more thorough understanding of impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence. Surveys were distributed at the end of the Overviews and STAND Up workshops to measure participants’ learning and satisfaction. Health Promotions- Sex in the Dark Workshop 2020-2021 | The Sex in the Dark workshop, conducted by Health Promotion (HP), is designed to increase the knowledge of students regarding their sexual health. Learning outcomes developed for Sex in the Dark workshop include: • Participants will report increased knowledge of healthy sexual behaviors. This year an electronic survey was developed intending to measure participants’ learning, as well as gauge participants’ overall impression of the program and perceptions of the facilitators of the program. All programs offered in 2020-2021 were virtual. This is the fourth year that Student Life Studies has worked with Health Promotion to assess the Sex in the Dark workshops. Parent and Family Assessment 2021 -New Student & Family Programs | New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) wanted to gather feedback from parents and family members of first year and third year students regarding communication with the university, as well as to understand their experiences receiving communication regarding the COVID-19 pandemic during the 2020-2021 academic year. This is the second time Student Life Studies has worked with New Student and Family Programs conducting a parent and family assessment. Graduate & Professional Student Government Grad Camp Fall 2021 | Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) sponsored one virtual session and one in-person session of Grad Camp held on August 18th and August 25th, 2021. GPSG worked with Student Life Studies since 2001 to assess the experiences of counselors and the campers who attend Grad Camp. Living Learning Communities and On-Campus Living - Spring 2021 | The Department of Residence Life wanted to understand the experiences of first-time in college (FTIC) students living in the residence halls. They specifically wanted to compare the experiences of students in a Living Learning Communities (LLC) to residents not in one of the Living Learning Communities. Residence Life will use the information to improve the programs and services provided to students living on-campus. Student Life Studies assisted the Department of Residence Life in conducting a similar assessment in spring 2019 as a pilot assessment. After the pilot was completed, questions were adjusted and were divided to ask half of the questions one year and half the following year. The questions for the assessment focused on a sense of community, personal gains, and general satisfaction. Health Promotions Presentations Survey 2020-2021 | Health Promotion (HP) staff offer a variety of presentations for classrooms, student organizations and residence halls on health-related topics to promote healthy lifestyles, health maintenance, disease/injury prevention and interpersonal violence protection for Texas A&M University students and the campus community. After each presentation, participants were surveyed to ascertain their satisfaction with each presentation, whether the topics presented were relevant to them, and to gain insight into future improvements needed. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, all 2020-2021 HP presentations were virtual.
