MSC FLI Costa Rica Service Trip - Spring 2020 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Freshmen Leadership International (FLI) coordinates one major international travel experience for its members each year over spring break. MSC FLI went to Costa Rica again this year from March 7-13, 2020 for this international travel experience. MSC FLI indicated the following outcomes for participants: • Participants demonstrate a willingness to step out of their comfort zone to try something new. Trip participants were assessed at different points during the experience to gauge how well the outcomes were met and the overall impact of this experience. MSC FLI Coast Rica Service Trip - 2022 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Freshmen Leadership International (FLI) coordinates an international service-learning program in Costa Rica for its members and any freshman in a Freshman Leadership Organization (FLO) each year over spring break. This year, the service-learning experience was from March 12-18, 2022. MSC FLI indicated the purpose of the trip for participants is to learn about another culture, enhance their Spanish language skills, experience the rainforest, and engage with local community members. Trip participants were assessed at three different points during the experience to gauge how well the outcomes were met and the overall impact of this experience. MSC Conway-Fitzhugh Summer 2023 Assessment | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Conway-Fitzhugh coordinates a summer study abroad trip to Italy for incoming freshmen who qualify as National Merit Scholars. This year, the three-week-long trip was in July 2023. Trip participants were assessed through an electronic survey after returning from the trip at the beginning of their first semester at Texas A&M University in an effort to gauge how well the outcomes were met and the overall impact of this experience on these students. This is the first time Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) worked with the MSC to assess the Conway-Fitzhugh experience. MSC Aggie Cinema Survey Fall 2020 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Aggie Cinema committee is responsible for organizing movie screenings for the Texas A&M University student population. Due to COVID 19 gathering restrictions, MSC Aggie Cinema offered students (on-campus residents) access to a movie/tv streaming service in lieu of in-person movie screenings during the fall 2020 semester. MSC Aggie Cinema wanted to determine students’ satisfaction with the service and future interest in continuing with the service. MSC Aggie Cinema Streaming and Screening Fall 2023 Report | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Aggie Cinema committee is responsible for organizing both in-person movie screenings and the online streaming site for the Texas A&M University student population. This assessment aimed to survey students who attended an in-person screening during Fall 2023 and/or who utilized the online streaming site, AggieCinema.tamu.edu to determine users’ satisfaction and future interest in Aggie Cinema offerings. I-Week 2022 | The International Festival, known as I-Week, is a weeklong festival and Texas A&M’s largest cultural celebration. It is designed to bring cultural awareness to those attending as well as to serve as a platform for cultural organizations and individuals to share their home cultures with the Texas A&M community. This year, I-Week took place on March 28-April 1, 2022, and consisted of a variety of events including I-Exhibit, I-Story, I-Dinner, I-Show, I-Art, and I-Awards. International Student Association (ISA) wanted to assess attendees for any activity during the weeklong event. International Graduate Student Assessment - Spring 2023 | The Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) wanted to assess the experiences of international graduate and professional students at Texas A&M to identify areas in which GPSG could work with International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) to improve international graduate students’ experience. More specifically, GPSG wanted to understand international graduate students’ experiences as they encounter processes unique to international students, like the I-20 processes, using the Terra Dotta system, and processes in applying and participating in Optional Practical Training (OPT).
