The GLBT Resource Center wanted to measure the satisfaction of those who requested presentations from the Center, which are typically provided to classes and student organizations. A short electronic survey was developed and sent to presentation requesters from October 2018 through May 2019. The attached report summarizes the results of that survey, which included the Net Promoter Score (NPS), a customer loyalty metric that gauges how willing a customer is to recommend a product or service.
The Global Leadership Initiatives Program focuses on developing a context of international awareness, regional expertise, and language competence among the cadets at Texas A&M University. The Corps Global Leadership Initiatives Program is a partnership between the Corps of Cadets, the Department of International Studies, the Study Abroad Programs Office, and the Confucius Institute. Each year, cadets apply for one of the international trips. This year there were three different trips planned: Mexico, Japan, and Israel. The Corps of Cadets wanted to understand the experiences of the cadets on these trips, and three different surveys were developed in effort to measure the cadets' experiences in each country. The attached report summarizes the results of those assessments.
The Graduate and Professional Student Council (formerly the Graduate Student Council) created Student Research Week (SRW) as a one-day poster event in 1994. This year, the program celebrated its 20th annual research extravaganza March 27-30, 2017. Feedback was collected from the judges and participants who participated in SRW programs. The Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC) sponsor Grad Camp every fall that brings together new graduate students for a once in a lifetime learning and network experience in Aggieland. GPSC held two Grad Camps in the fall of 2017; August 17 and August 24, 2017. The summary report provides the results of the assessment of campers during both Grad Camp, and the counselors who participated in the program.
The Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC) wanted to assess the experience of both the judges and competitors regarding their participation in Student Research Week 2019. Student Life Studies (SLS) has provided assistance in assessment of SWR since 2006; this is the thirteenth time SLS has assisted in developing the survey for the participants of the program. The attached report summarizes the results of both surveys.
The Graduating Senior Survey was administered to students receiving a bachelor’s degree in the academic year 2017-2018. Several questions asked about leadership and involvement. The results indicate that, on average, graduating seniors held leadership position in one organization and were actively involved in 2.7 organizations while at Texas A&M. The results are disaggregated by gender, first generation status, and ethnic origin.
The LeaderShape® Catalyst™ is a one day student program offered each semester through the Leadership and Service Center(LSC) within the Department of Student Activities. LeaderShape® Catalyst™ was held at Texas A&M University October 10, 2015 and March 5, 2016. The attached report summarizes the results of a session feedback paper survey measuring satisfaction distributed near the end of each program by the LeaderShape® Catalyst™ facilitator. The Leadership and Service Center also want to assess the participants' progress towards achieving the learning outcomes LSC set forth for the program, so the report also includes the results of that assessment as well.
The Leadership Education for APIDA Development (LEAD) Conference intends strengthening the campus identity and development of Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) students on campus. Facilitated by the Department of Multicultural Services and the Asian Presidents’ Council, the purpose of the conference is to support and advocate for the APIDA community. Student Learning outcomes identified for students attending the inaugural conference, on April 22 2018 were:
• Identify current issues and needs of the APIDA community
• Learn how their personal values connect to leadership and social change
• Engage in networking with their peers to positively impact their communities
• Address the social and educational needs of the APIDA community
The attached report summarizes the results of the survey provided to the attendees at the end of the conference. Survey intended to measure conference attendees’ satisfaction with the conference as well as what they gained from attending.
The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Abbott Family Leadership Conference (AFLC) is a five day event which introduces sophomore and junior student delegates to former students of Texas A&M University and leaders in industry who share experiences of incorporating values and ethics into their professional and personal lives. MSC AFLC sponsors two separate conferences, one in San Antonio (January 25-29, 2017) and one in Houston (March 1-5, 2017). MSC AFLC also sponsors additional pre-conference events that include all delegates. Different students attend each trip. MSC AFLC addresses four “pillars” in their pre-conference events and at both conferences: ethics, importance of family, service, and values. In 2016, MSC AFLC determined as its learning outcome for all conference and pre-conference events that delegates will be able to recognize an ethical dilemma and apply rational decision-making in order to address it after participating in conference activities. Evaluations of each conference and surrounding pre-conference events also include assessing delegates’ awareness, knowledge and application of the four pillars as a result of the delegates’ participation. The summary report attached present the assessment results regarding the student experiences from both the San Antonio and Houston trips.
The Memorial Student Center (MSC) at Texas A&M University has been the student union on campus since 1951. It is a building, and a department in the Division of Student Affairs which provides students with academic, cultural awareness, arts programs, leadership development and services opportunities. The MSC Student Programs Office (SPO) wanted to conduct an assessment to learn what Texas A&M students, faculty and staff know and understand about the MSC, especially students’ understanding that the MSC is also a programming organization, not just a building. The MSC also wanted feedback regarding students’ use of the Flag Room within MSC, and their opinions about the Flag Room’s current food, drink and meeting usage policy. The attached summary report provides the results of that assessment.
The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Carter G. Woodson Black Awareness Committee (WBAC) annually sponsors The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Breakfast. This year’s program was held on January 14th, 2020; attendees were surveyed at the breakfast to help MSC WBAC better understand their experience, and to improve future programs. The following report summarizes those survey results.
The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Committee for the Awareness of Mexican-American Culture (CAMAC) mission is to unite students from diverse backgrounds, establish an appreciation for Hispanic and Latino cultures, and engage in cultural and educational event.The MSC CAMAC advising staff wanted to understand the student experience and learning from serving in leadership roles within MSC CAMAC during the 2015-16 academic year. The advising staff designated the following learning outcome for its leadership: MSC CAMAC Executive Leaders will be able to articulate areas of personal growth that contribute to life-long learning. The leadership experienced a series of developmental training throughout the year lead by their advisors, and incorporating readings from The Five Book, by Dan Zadra, which included exercises for the leaders outside of the meetings. The student leadership were then asked a series of five questions upon which to reflect and provide written responses. Their written reflections were evaluated using three criteria adapted from the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) VALUE rubric, Integrative Learning. The attached report summarizes the results of that assessment.
The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) is an annual event that occurs the week before the fall semester begins; this year’s conference was held on August 23th through August 25th, 2016. Program outcomes for the conference included giving new student leaders the opportunity to network with other leaders, staff, administrators and former students. MSC FLC also intended for delegates to increase their perspective of leadership, and understand how globalization affects everyone. Conference activities, such as focus group sessions, speakers, and group activities, are designed to accomplish all aspects of the program outcomes. The attached summary report provides results from the survey given to the delegates to assess their experience with the conference.
The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Freshmen in Service and Hosting (FISH) is dedicated to aiding freshmen in the development of leadership, integrity, purpose, identity, and independence while fostering personal relationships. The MSC FISH structure contains eight “schools,” which are smaller groups of freshmen led by upperclassmen. Members also have the opportunity to serve on one of four subcommittees to help plan and implement a variety of programs and projects. Through these subcommittees and schools, the MSC FISH staff helps freshmen become acquainted with the campus and community while serving as mentors.
The MSC FISH leadership team developed learning outcomes in the fall of 2011 for each level of membership within the organization and this year’s assessments focused on outcomes for freshman. The attached summarizes the results of that assessment.
