Aggie Wellbeing Assessment/Student Wellbeing Executive Summary | The Wellbeing Improvement Survey for Higher Education Settings (WISHES) has been administered to the Texas A&M University student body in College Station since the 2021-2022 academic year. MSC SCONA 69 - Spring 2024 | Each spring the Memorial Student Center (MSC) Student Conference on National Affairs (SCONA) hosts a conference to provide “programs for students across Texas, the nation, and the world to exchange ideas and discuss the role of the United States in the global community.” The theme for SCONA 69 was “American Grand Strategy: Winning the Decisive Decade,” and was held on February 15-17, 2024. SCONA 69 utilized speakers and team facilitators with first-hand experiences in the topics to guide delegates in the creation of a policy paper. Res Life Aggieland Saturday Spring 2024 Summary Report | Texas A&M University hosted Aggieland Saturday on February 10, 2024. Aggieland Saturday is an annual campus-wide event aimed at recruiting prospective students to Texas A&M University. This open house event offers prospective students and their families the opportunity to explore Texas A&M University’s campus and everything Texas A&M has to offer, including information on academics, admissions, financial aid and scholarships, student organizations, and on-campus housing. The Department of Residence Life participated in Aggieland Saturday by providing tours of Residence Life facilities and information about Residence Life offerings. This survey was created to assess the experiences of Department of Residence Life staff, including student, graduate, and full-time staff, who worked at the event. SGA Academic Affairs Future Initiatives | The Student Government Association (SGA) Academic Affairs Committee wanted to gather feedback from the Texas A&M University student body to gain insight into what issues or initiatives were essential to the student body and how their committee could better meet the needs of the students at Texas A&M. The Big Event - Spring 2024 | According to its website (http://bigevent.tamu.edu/), “The Big Event is the largest, one-day, student-run service project in the nation where students of Texas A&M University come together to say ‘Thank You’ to the residents of Bryan and College Station.” The Big Event leaders worked with Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research to understand how Bryan/College Station community members and volunteers reacted to their experience with The Big Event (TBE). Fish Camp 2019 Participant Evaluation | According to its website (http://fishcamp.tamu.edu/), Fish Camp “welcomes the freshmen class to Texas A&M each year with the purpose of giving them an opportunity to have fun, make friends, and learn more about life at Texas A&M.” Furthermore, Fish Camp “is led by A&M students who are passionate about making the first year of college a success for freshmen!” This year, seven sessions ran from July 27th through August 17th, 2019. Fish Camp wanted to understand the participants’ camp experience and how Fish Camp affected, if at all, the start of the fall semester for those who attended. 13thAnnual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast January 2020 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Carter G. Woodson Black Awareness Committee (WBAC) annually sponsors The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Breakfast. This year’s program was held on January 14th, 2020; attendees were surveyed at the breakfast to help MSC WBAC better understand their experience, and to improve future programs. Client Focus Groups | One goal for Student Life Studies is to provide quality assessment services to facilitate client planning and decision-making. To measure this goal and associated outcomes, the department conducted focus groups with clients to understand the effectiveness and quality of the services offered. Student Life Studies conducts focus groups approximately every three years to learn about clients’ experiences working with the department. University Police Department Student and Citizen Survey | The Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) is required to survey “citizens” as a part of national accreditation requirements with International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). UPD surveys the campus community on a regular basis to gather input from the community, identify and improve practices, and address attitudes that might contribute to tension and grievances. The process for gathering that information can be determined by the department. Rec Sports Facilities Customer Service | Staff from the Department of Recreational Sports contacted Student Life Studies to assist with an assessment to gather information from students relating to their satisfaction with the Rec Center facility spaces and interactions with their staff. More specifically, the Rec Center staff wanted to measure the satisfaction or dissatisfaction level with facility spaces and to learn where improvements to facilities, operations, and programs could be made to make students' experiences at the Rec Center more enjoyable. This is the fourth time the department has worked with Student Life Studies to concentrate on assessing the facilities within the Rec Center. Website Review-Student Focus Groups | Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) completely revamped their website, first showcasing in the fall of 2019. Early spring 2020 a series of student focus groups were held to understand student use and obtain their feedback regarding changes and improvements that were needed to further update the website to better meet students' needs. MSC FLI Costa Rica Service Trip - Spring 2020 | The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Freshmen Leadership International (FLI) coordinates one major international travel experience for its members each year over spring break. MSC FLI went to Costa Rica again this year from March 7-13, 2020 for this international travel experience. MSC FLI indicated the following outcomes for participants: • Participants demonstrate a willingness to step out of their comfort zone to try something new. Trip participants were assessed at different points during the experience to gauge how well the outcomes were met and the overall impact of this experience. Freshman Leadership Organization Student Experience - Spring 2020 | The Department of Student Activities wanted to better understand students’ experience as it relates to their membership in one of the Freshman Leadership Organizations (FLOs). Specifically, Student Activities wanted to look at students’ expectations from their FLO experience, if students actually received what they expected, if there were any unexpected benefits due to their membership, and if students would recommend their FLO to new incoming students. Additionally, the department wanted to learn how supported students felt by their FLO and if this changed as the university moved to a remote environment.
