Green Dot Bystander Intervention Overview and Training Evaluations 2020-2021 | According to its website (greendot.tamu.edu), Green Dot is an international movement built on the premise that individuals can systematically and measurably reduce the levels of power-based personal violence found in their community. Students, staff and faculty who participated in the Texas A&M Green Dot Bystander Intervention training classes and the Green Dot Overview virtual workshops were surveyed to assess the programs and how attending affected participants’ understanding of concepts related to power-based personal violence. Health Promotion: Hullabaloo U Lessons 2020-2021 | Health Promotion (HP) staff offered 2020 Hullabaloo U instructors a series of five 50-minute lessons that they could facilitate as part of the Hullabaloo U curriculum during their fall 2020 courses. Two of the lessons, Healthy Relationships and Well Being: Dimensions of Wellness, were required to be delivered. Instructors were surveyed after those required lessons were to have been delivered to measure the effectiveness of those lessons from the perspective of instructors to incorporate future improvements to the lesson plans. The surveys assessed whether instructors felt the students met the learning outcomes, were receptive to and participated in the activities included in the lessons and whether instructors thought the lessons valuable. HP staff also wanted to understand if lessons were implemented with ease, and succinct enough to facilitate within a 50-minute timeframe. Health Promotions Presentations Survey 2020-2021 | Health Promotion (HP) staff offer a variety of presentations for classrooms, student organizations and residence halls on health-related topics to promote healthy lifestyles, health maintenance, disease/injury prevention and interpersonal violence protection for Texas A&M University students and the campus community. After each presentation, participants were surveyed to ascertain their satisfaction with each presentation, whether the topics presented were relevant to them, and to gain insight into future improvements needed. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, all 2020-2021 HP presentations were virtual. Health Promotions- Sex in the Dark Workshop 2020-2021 | The Sex in the Dark workshop, conducted by Health Promotion (HP), is designed to increase the knowledge of students regarding their sexual health. Learning outcomes developed for Sex in the Dark workshop include: • Participants will report increased knowledge of healthy sexual behaviors. This year an electronic survey was developed intending to measure participants’ learning, as well as gauge participants’ overall impression of the program and perceptions of the facilitators of the program. All programs offered in 2020-2021 were virtual. This is the fourth year that Student Life Studies has worked with Health Promotion to assess the Sex in the Dark workshops. Howdy Week Assessment 2021 | Howdy Week is a series of events held just before the fall semester to welcome primarily new students to campus and is coordinated by New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. Howdy Week 2021 was August 22-29, 2021, and included a combination of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events. NSFP wanted to understand the event coordinators’ experience, specifically with the process to submit events for Howdy Week and how organizations find out about submitting events. Additionally, NSFP wanted to assess students’ experiences with Howdy Week. Live@Noon: A Summer Series 2020 | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life sponsored Live@Noon: A Summer Series, a summer series of virtual book discussions with faculty and fellow students, open to all new students. This program replaced previous years’ in-person Summer Reading programs held during Howdy Week. Live@Noon: A Summer Series outcomes were to help new students acclimate themselves to the virtual college classroom experience, learn to interact with professors and meet fellow freshmen about to attend Texas A&M University. Participants were surveyed in early September to assess their experiences and gain their feedback regarding the value of the program to them. Off Campus Student Services Community Luncheon - Spring 2024 | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students living off-campus in the Bryan/College Station area, including helping students understand leases and find housing. Off Campus Student Services hosted a community luncheon on February 1, 2024, to educate local citizens on events, neighborhood codes, and being good neighbors. OCSS will use this information to inform future programs and student support. Out-of-State Family Focus Groups | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) is a unit within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life and work with families for all Texas A&M students. NSFP wanted to understand the needs of out-of-state Aggie families. Specifically, they wanted to learn how they could provide better programs and services to this family population and beneficial resources. In addition, New Student and Family Programs wanted to learn about these families’ experiences with New Student Conferences and Family Weekend. Student Life Studies conducted virtual focus groups with out-of-state family members to gather the desired information for New Student and Family Programs. Parent and Family Assessment - Spring 2020 | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) provides outreach to Aggie families because they understand how families contribute to students’ college success. Sex in the Dark Workshop 2019-2020 (Health Promotions ODSL) | Sex in the Dark is a workshop conducted by Health Promotion (HP) to increase the knowledge of students in regards to their sexual health. STAND Up Overview and STAND Up Workshop Evaluations 2020-2021- Health Promotions | Health Promotions within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life (ODSL) offers workshops providing educational support for the STAND Up campaign on the Texas A&M University campus inviting Aggies to Step In and Stand Up against sexual harassment and sexual violence. In 2020-2021, two separate programs were offered: The STAND Up Overview, an hour-long, virtual presentation intended to provide general information about the impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence, and the STAND Up workshop, a three and one-half hour, in-person and virtual presentation designed to provide a more thorough understanding of impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence. Surveys were distributed at the end of the Overviews and STAND Up workshops to measure participants’ learning and satisfaction.
