Ethics and Decision Making Workshop Evaluation 2020-2021 | The Student Conduct Office (SCO) within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life wanted to assess the learning and overall experiences of students attending the Ethics and Decision Making (EDM) Workshop. The survey intended to assess whether students could identify and list influences on their values and decisions, and understand strategies for making decisions. The survey also requested participants’ feedback about the effectiveness of the facilitators. Client Follow-Up Feedback | Starting in summer 2020, Student Life Studies staff members began scheduling meetings with clients several weeks after assessment projects were completed. The purpose of these follow-up meetings was to find out what information from the report stood out to clients, how clients might use or share the results, or if there was any additional analysis Student Life Studies could provide. The department wanted to gather feedback from clients to know if these short follow-up meetings were beneficial or if the department could do something to make them more helpful. Parent and Family Assessment 2021 -New Student & Family Programs | New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) wanted to gather feedback from parents and family members of first year and third year students regarding communication with the university, as well as to understand their experiences receiving communication regarding the COVID-19 pandemic during the 2020-2021 academic year. This is the second time Student Life Studies has worked with New Student and Family Programs conducting a parent and family assessment. Green Dot Bystander Intervention Overview and Training Evaluations 2020-2021 | According to its website (greendot.tamu.edu), Green Dot is an international movement built on the premise that individuals can systematically and measurably reduce the levels of power-based personal violence found in their community. Students, staff and faculty who participated in the Texas A&M Green Dot Bystander Intervention training classes and the Green Dot Overview virtual workshops were surveyed to assess the programs and how attending affected participants’ understanding of concepts related to power-based personal violence. Business Relationship Management Model Survey 2021 | Division of Student Affairs (DSA) department directors and staff who are members of the DSA Department of Information Technology (DoIT) Liaison committee during the 2020-2021 academic year were surveyed for feedback regarding their relationship with DoIT services, as defined by four core discipline components of the Business Relationship Management (BRM) model. This is the first time Student Life Studies helped DoIT assess departmental feedback regarding progress towards an optimum relationship with each DSA departments using the BRM model. Living Learning Communities and On-Campus Living - Spring 2021 | The Department of Residence Life wanted to understand the experiences of first-time in college (FTIC) students living in the residence halls. They specifically wanted to compare the experiences of students in a Living Learning Communities (LLC) to residents not in one of the Living Learning Communities. Residence Life will use the information to improve the programs and services provided to students living on-campus. Student Life Studies assisted the Department of Residence Life in conducting a similar assessment in spring 2019 as a pilot assessment. After the pilot was completed, questions were adjusted and were divided to ask half of the questions one year and half the following year. The questions for the assessment focused on a sense of community, personal gains, and general satisfaction. SERU Graduate Climate Heard Negative Views 2021 | The Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) is a consortium of research institutions in the Association of American Universities that administer a common survey to generate knowledge and help further the goals of higher education in general and at the member institutions specifically. The SERU/Your Voice survey is a comprehensive survey of all graduate and professional students at Texas A&M University (TAMU) intended to give faculty, students, and administration in-depth insights into the student experience. Respondents were asked a variety of questions about campus climate, specifically about their perceptions and experiences. Traditions Night | The Department of Student Activities, Extended Orientation, in collaboration with Texas A&M Athletics, hosted Traditions Night on August 25, 2021 for incoming Texas A&M student-athletes. Student Life Studies collaborated with the Department of Student Activities to assess the participating students’ experiences with Traditions Night. Student Assistance Services Student Experience - 2020-2021 | Student Assistance Services is one of the units in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. According to its website (https://studentlife.tamu.edu/sas/), Student Assistance Services (SAS) “seeks to connect Texas A&M University students with the appropriate guidance, resources, and support to address a variety of personal and academic matters.” Students are often referred to Student Assistance Services for a variety of reasons such as concerning behavior, student death, sexual violence, withdrawal from school, student welfare checks, and general consultation. Staff Assessment Needs and Training | To meet the needs of staff members, Student Life Studies conducts a survey every three years to understand division staff members’ experiences and needs related to assessment. Student Life Studies uses this information to develop resources and training programs for the Division of Student Affairs. New Aggies Student Survey: Co-curricular Experiences | All new undergraduate students (First Time in College [FTIC] and transfer), including branch campuses, were invited to complete the New Aggies Student Survey September 8-27, 2020. The survey gathered feedback on a variety of topics including pre-college experiences, sense of belonging, campus climate, potential obstacles, and campus resources. A total of 7,288 students responded to the survey. Student Conduct Conferences - 2020-2021 | The Student Conduct Office (SCO) wanted to assess students’ experience with and the learning from their conduct conferences to continue to improve how their office works with students in the future. The Student Conduct Office previously used a national survey to assess students’ experience, but the questions did not focus on the priorities identified by the unit. Department of Recreational Sports 2021 High Impact Practice Participants | The Department of Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) wanted to capture and understand the impact of student leadership roles in the department. An electronic survey was sent to student employees in certain positions that have been identified as being High Impact Practice positions late the in spring 2021 semester.
