Student Senate Academic Advising Survey Fall 2021 | The Student Senate wanted to collect input from the Texas A&M University non first time in college sophomores, juniors and seniors regarding their experiences with academic advising while at Texas A&M University. The Student Senate in conjunction with University Advisors and Counselors (UAC) and the Office for Student Success developed survey questions and contacted Student Life Studies to assist in survey editing, distribution, analysis and report of the survey results. Mi Casa es Su Casa 2019-2020 | Mi Casa es Su Casa are a series of dinners hosted by faculty and staff for students throughout the academic year. Sponsored by MSC CAMAC, these dinners intend participants to network with other students and faculty and staff, and gain a better understanding of opportunities that can open in the future. This year three dinners were held - two in the fall semester and one in the spring. After the November and February dinners participating students were sent surveys in effort to better understand their experience. The hosts were sent a survey after the last dinner to also gain a better understanding of their experience with the student organizers and what improvements or changes they recommend for next year's events. Group RecXercise Classes - Fall 2021 | The Department of Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) offers a variety of group exercise classes, called Group RecXercise classes, at its facility to members for an additional fee. Approximately every other year Rec Sports assesses the exercise classes of members who purchased a pass offering unlimited access to classes by semester. The feedback guides Rec Sports staff to address concerns and make improvements to Group RecXercise. SERU Graduate Climate Improvements 2021 | The Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) is a consortium of research institutions in the Association of American Universities that administer a common survey to generate knowledge and help further the goals of higher education in general and at the member institutions specifically. The SERU/Your Voice survey is a comprehensive survey of all graduate and professional students at Texas A&M University (TAMU) intended to give faculty, students, and administration in-depth insights into the student experience. Howdy Week Assessment 2021 | Howdy Week is a series of events held just before the fall semester to welcome primarily new students to campus and is coordinated by New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. Howdy Week 2021 was August 22-29, 2021, and included a combination of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events. NSFP wanted to understand the event coordinators’ experience, specifically with the process to submit events for Howdy Week and how organizations find out about submitting events. Additionally, NSFP wanted to assess students’ experiences with Howdy Week. T-Camp 2021 Counselor/Teamer/Co-Chair and Camper Surveys - Aggie Transition Camps (ATC) | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in T-Camp. T-Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC), is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who are transferring to Texas A&M University. There were two sessions held, from August 2 through August 8. Following the camps, one survey was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and a few weeks into the semester another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experience. Student Organization Services Survey | Student Life Studies assisted the Department of Student Activities Student Organization Finance Center (SOFC) and the Student Organization Development Administration (SODA) in assessing Texas A&M University student organizations’ student leaders’ and student advisors’ experiences interfacing with their organizations. In spring 2021, a survey was sent to both student leaders and advisors to provide SOFC and SODA feedback regarding the quality of their services and offered resources. Customer Satisfaction Survey 2020-2021 | In August 2021, Division of Student Affairs (DSA) staff members who used the DSA Department of Information Technology (DoIT) services during the 2020-2021 academic year were surveyed regarding their overall satisfaction with DoIT services. This is the sixth time Student Life Studies has helped DoIT assess customer satisfaction of clients regarding the various services offered by DoIT. STAND Up Overview and STAND Up Workshop Evaluations 2020-2021- Health Promotions | Health Promotions within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life (ODSL) offers workshops providing educational support for the STAND Up campaign on the Texas A&M University campus inviting Aggies to Step In and Stand Up against sexual harassment and sexual violence. In 2020-2021, two separate programs were offered: The STAND Up Overview, an hour-long, virtual presentation intended to provide general information about the impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence, and the STAND Up workshop, a three and one-half hour, in-person and virtual presentation designed to provide a more thorough understanding of impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence. Surveys were distributed at the end of the Overviews and STAND Up workshops to measure participants’ learning and satisfaction. AMPLIFY |Women’s Mentoring Circle Spring 2021- Women's Resource Center | The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) wanted to assess the experiences of both the mentees and mentors who participated in its mentorship program, AMPLIFY |Women’s Mentoring Circle, during the spring 2021 semester. This was the first time Student Life Studies (SLS) has assisted in developing surveys for the participants of the program. Health Promotions- Sex in the Dark Workshop 2020-2021 | The Sex in the Dark workshop, conducted by Health Promotion (HP), is designed to increase the knowledge of students regarding their sexual health. Learning outcomes developed for Sex in the Dark workshop include: • Participants will report increased knowledge of healthy sexual behaviors. This year an electronic survey was developed intending to measure participants’ learning, as well as gauge participants’ overall impression of the program and perceptions of the facilitators of the program. All programs offered in 2020-2021 were virtual. This is the fourth year that Student Life Studies has worked with Health Promotion to assess the Sex in the Dark workshops. International Graduate Student Assessment 2020-2021 | The Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) wanted to assess the experience of international graduate students at Texas A&M to identify areas in which GPSG can help improve their student experience and quality of life at Texas A&M. More specifically GPSG wanted to understand international graduate students’ experiences as they encounter processes unique to international students, like the I-20 processes, using the Terra Dotta system, and processes in applying and participating in Optional Practical Training (OPT). GPSG leadership contacted Student Life Studies in the fall of 2020 to assist them in creating and distributing the survey to international graduate students attending Texas A&M University (College Station) in spring 2021. Health Promotion: Hullabaloo U Lessons 2020-2021 | Health Promotion (HP) staff offered 2020 Hullabaloo U instructors a series of five 50-minute lessons that they could facilitate as part of the Hullabaloo U curriculum during their fall 2020 courses. Two of the lessons, Healthy Relationships and Well Being: Dimensions of Wellness, were required to be delivered. Instructors were surveyed after those required lessons were to have been delivered to measure the effectiveness of those lessons from the perspective of instructors to incorporate future improvements to the lesson plans. The surveys assessed whether instructors felt the students met the learning outcomes, were receptive to and participated in the activities included in the lessons and whether instructors thought the lessons valuable. HP staff also wanted to understand if lessons were implemented with ease, and succinct enough to facilitate within a 50-minute timeframe. Health Promotions Presentations Survey 2020-2021 | Health Promotion (HP) staff offer a variety of presentations for classrooms, student organizations and residence halls on health-related topics to promote healthy lifestyles, health maintenance, disease/injury prevention and interpersonal violence protection for Texas A&M University students and the campus community. After each presentation, participants were surveyed to ascertain their satisfaction with each presentation, whether the topics presented were relevant to them, and to gain insight into future improvements needed. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, all 2020-2021 HP presentations were virtual. Graduate & Professional Student Government Grad Camp Fall 2021 | Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) sponsored one virtual session and one in-person session of Grad Camp held on August 18th and August 25th, 2021. GPSG worked with Student Life Studies since 2001 to assess the experiences of counselors and the campers who attend Grad Camp.
