Out-of-State Family Focus Groups | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) is a unit within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life and work with families for all Texas A&M students. NSFP wanted to understand the needs of out-of-state Aggie families. Specifically, they wanted to learn how they could provide better programs and services to this family population and beneficial resources. In addition, New Student and Family Programs wanted to learn about these families’ experiences with New Student Conferences and Family Weekend. Student Life Studies conducted virtual focus groups with out-of-state family members to gather the desired information for New Student and Family Programs. Parent and Family Assessment - Spring 2020 | New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) provides outreach to Aggie families because they understand how families contribute to students’ college success. This is the second time Student Life Studies has worked with New Student and Family Programs conducting a parent and family assessment. Parent/Guardian Satisfaction Survey - Spring 2020 | The Becky Gates Children’s Center (BGCC or the Center) conducts annual assessments of the parents/guardians of the children who attend the Center to evaluate and continue to provide high-quality services for those children and their parents/guardians. The assessment focuses on parents/guardians’ overall satisfaction, their experience with their child’s teacher and classroom, as well as the management of the Center. Additionally this year, the survey included some questions related to the online learning opportunities provided by the Center this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rec Sports Climbing Wall Focus Group - Spring 2022 | The department of Recreational Sports (Rec Sports or the Rec) strives to serve all Texas A&M students. The Outdoor Adventures staff recognized that they did not have female students use the climbing wall at the same level as male students. They wanted to understand why female students did not use the climbing wall and what staff could do to encourage more female students to utilize the facilities. To understand the experiences of female students, a focus group was conducted with female students who regularly utilized the Rec Center but did not use the climbing wall regularly. Rec Sports Facilities Customer Service | Staff from the Department of Recreational Sports contacted Student Life Studies to assist with an assessment to gather information from students relating to their satisfaction with the Rec Center facility spaces and interactions with their staff. More specifically, the Rec Center staff wanted to measure the satisfaction or dissatisfaction level with facility spaces and to learn where improvements to facilities, operations, and programs could be made to make students' experiences at the Rec Center more enjoyable. This is the fourth time the department has worked with Student Life Studies to concentrate on assessing the facilities within the Rec Center. Rec Sports Intramural Sports Participants - Fall 2023 | Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) offers dozens of intramural activities each semester for a wide range of skill levels. Each year, more than 13,000 students participate in the intramural program. Staff members with Intramural Sports wanted to assess students who participated in the intramural program during the fall 2023 semester to understand their experiences and how to improve the program for the future. Res Life Aggieland Saturday Spring 2024 Summary Report | Texas A&M University hosted Aggieland Saturday on February 10, 2024. Aggieland Saturday is an annual campus-wide event aimed at recruiting prospective students to Texas A&M University. This open house event offers prospective students and their families the opportunity to explore Texas A&M University’s campus and everything Texas A&M has to offer, including information on academics, admissions, financial aid and scholarships, student organizations, and on-campus housing. The Department of Residence Life participated in Aggieland Saturday by providing tours of Residence Life facilities and information about Residence Life offerings. This survey was created to assess the experiences of Department of Residence Life staff, including student, graduate, and full-time staff, who worked at the event. SAPAR - Division Staff Assessment Needs and Training | Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) conducts a survey every three years to understand division staff members’ experiences and needs related to assessment. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research staff use this information to develop resources and training programs for the Division of Student Affairs and adjust their assessment services to meet staff members’ needs. SAPAR Client Focus Groups - Summer 2022 | One goal for Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) is to provide quality assessment services to facilitate client planning and decision-making. To measure this goal and associated outcomes, the department conducted focus groups with clients to understand the effectiveness and quality of the services offered. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research conducts focus groups approximately every three years to learn about clients’ experiences working with the department. SBSLC 2020: Igniting the Dream: I the Flame, We the Fire | On January 16 -18, 2020, the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) held its 32nd annual conference at Texas A&M University. A series of surveys were developed to assess the student participants’ experience attending the conference overall, the organizations at the Career and Graduate School fair, 16 participants’ experience at the Charles E. Williams II Advanced Leadership Institute (ALI), and the 72 attending advisors. Sex in the Dark Workshop 2019-2020 (Health Promotions ODSL) | Sex in the Dark is a workshop conducted by Health Promotion (HP) to increase the knowledge of students in regards to their sexual health.
